SLAM Mini-Grant Program
Grants for Individual Artists of all Disciplines for Creative Endeavors

The application deadline for the current grant cycle is August 31, 2022

Artists and musicians in Pecos County, Texas are eligible to receive mini-grants of up to $500 from SLAM. Average grants are $250 and may be used for materials, supplies, travel, and other expenses related to your craft.

Grant Program

We believe the arts are essential to the health and vitality of our community and are passionate about supporting artists. We know that applying for funding can often be a very complicated process, so our Mini-Grant program process is designed to be simple.

SLAM Mini-Grants generally average $250, and are intended to assist with such things as artistic supplies, recordings, studio time, exhibits, performances, project-related expenses, etc. Expenses must be incurred AFTER receiving the grant, and receipts will be required.

This program is made possible by the donations of many in our community who believe in you, our local artists and musicians.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident
  • Live AND perform/show in Pecos County
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • NOT be a board member of SLAM (close relatives of such are also disqualified from applying)

Important: If you are selected as a grant recipient, a copy of your driver’s license or state ID will be required before funds are distributed to verify that you meet the age and residency requirements.

How to Apply

Our application process is simple. Just complete our short online application below. We are waiving the required $10 non-refundable application fee through the end of 2022. The application fee goes directly to the SLAM program fund to make grant review and future programs possible. If you would still like to contribute to the program, please use our donation link on the homepage. Donating does not improve your chances of receiving a grant.

Selection Process

SLAM is committed to supporting both emerging and established artists. We are looking for passion and excellence in your craft. Tell us why your work is important to you and how you hope it will impact others.

Grants are awarded based on merit and organizational priorities. Jurors are made up of a committee of industry professionals, whom we allow to remain anonymous.

Jurors will review all applications and select finalists. At the end of the grant cycle, all finalists will be reviewed once again, and one or more winners will be selected. Due to both time and financial constraints, jurors are not asked to provide feedback to applicants regarding submissions.

All applicants will be notified of the winner(s) via email. Information will also be posted on the SLAM website. We highly recommend that you add our email address info@fsslam.org to your contacts list, as messages sometimes mistakenly get filtered and end up in the spam folder.

Grant Winner Requirements

  • Winners will be notified via email and must respond with the required information by the deadline indicated in the email.
  • Projects must be completed within three months of receiving the grant award. If an ongoing project, it must begin within three months of receiving the grant.
  • We require recognition on all printed materials, and from the stage, if applicable. “This project is partially supported by a grant from Fort Stockton SLAM.”
  • Within 30 days of the close of the project, we require 1-2 paragraphs describing how our support benefited you. If an ongoing project, please send this information within 30 days of the project start date.
  • Recipients are responsible for any tax implications.
  • Recipients must submit receipts for allowed grant expenditures within three months of receiving the funds. Along with receipts, other supporting materials are encouraged – such as photos of yourself/band performing with your new supplies, or at an event made possible with your grant, or a completed art piece made possible with your grant funds.
